Stripping them down to their most essentials, Arno Schuitemaker creates his highly physical and conceptual performances by using the body, movement, music, light and space as his enabling elements. Each performance shapes a unique empathetic relationship between the audience and the performers. His perception-based works are immersive, visceral and mesmerizing, shedding new lights on notions as rhythm, repetition and endurance.

He is a winner of the Dioraphte Encouragement Award, was selected for the Aerowaves Priority List and by the European Dancehouse Network as a modul-dance artist.

Between 2013 and 2016, he received multiyear support by one of his main coproducers DansBrabant (Tilburg) and he was an artist-in-residence with ICKamsterdam (Amsterdam) from January 2015 through April 2017. Other organisations that supported his work are Le CN D, un centre d'art pour la danse (Pantin), Centre de Développement Chorégraphique Toulouse / Midi-Pyrénées (Toulouse), HELLERAU – Europäisches Zentrum der Künste (Dresden), Dansehallerne (Copenhagen), The Duncan Dance Research Center (Athens), Tanzquartier (Vienna) and Ballet National de Marseille (Marseille).
