Arno Schuitemaker creates works one has to experience. His performances immerse the audience, each in their unique way. Rooted in the pages of his diary, they transform into hyperphysical and embodied meditations on life, and, consequently, the way we (can) engage with the world. His performances have been presented at renowned venues and contemporary performing arts festivals in over 25 countries.
His most recent performance 30 appearances out of darkness premiered at the Holland Festival in Junie 2022 and was ranked in the top 5 best performances of the season by de Volkskrant. In October 2019, The Way You Sound Tonight was bestowed with a "Zwaan". The award is considered the most prestigious dance prize in the Dutch performing arts.

In Theatermaker, both The Way You Sound Tonight and I will wait for you were selected in the lists of critics as the season’s best performances. tanz magazine selected Arno as one of the most promising artists in their yearbook 2017 and by Dance Europe he was mentioned as being “one of the leading makers in The Netherlands.” He is a winner of the Dioraphte Encouragement Award and the 2nd jury prize at [re]connaissance.
